6 Big Reasons Why You Should Embrace A Healthy Lifestyle

Let's face it...being healthy is hard.

We're working longer hours at work than we ever have.

Sometimes after a grueling day at the office, it's easy to pull up to a drive through and get an easy meal. The last thing on your mind is cooking.

And don't get me started on exercise. If you don't feel like cooking, there's no way you're going to feel like working out.

And you barely get enough sleep as it is, so there's no way you'll be able to peel yourself out of bed any earlier than you already do.

Does this sound about right?

We all know we need to eat healthy, exercise, reduce our stress levels, spend quality time with our families, and give back to our communities.

It's much easier said than done.

Most people think they need to get in shape so they can have a perfect body. One like they see in the magazines.

But there's no such thing as a perfect body. So oftentimes, when people start getting healthy, and they don't see in the mirror what they see in the magazines, they get discouraged and stop.

That's not why we should embrace a healthy lifestyle.

There are many more legitimate reasons why we should be healthy, and we don't have to turn into gym rat health nuts overnight in order to achieve them.

We will discuss several of those reasons below.

Table Of Contents

You'll Live Longer

The main reason you should embrace a healthy lifestyle is to improve your longevity.

Eating healthy and nutritional food, along with exercise, will add to your overall health and well-being.

That in turn increases your life expectancy because it strengthens your immune system, you'll suffer far less from disease and colds, and you'll have more energy to do the things you love.

A healthy lifestyle improves your quality of life, so you aren't just living longer, but you're enjoying every minute of it.

Regular exercise has shown to reduce stress and anxiety that comes from the various areas of your life, improving your overall happiness as well.

A healthy lifestyle will protect you from disease

Disease Protection

For many of us, we believe it's just a matter of time until we suffer from one of the major diseases that plague our time.

It's even been said that if you live long enough, you will eventually get cancer.

Then, add in diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and high blood pressure, it seems like we're doomed to suffer from something at some point in our life.

Genetics play a part in determining the chances of you getting certain diseases, but a conscious effort on your part to eat healthy foods and exercise regularly will protect your organs and keep your body running efficiently.

And, if you do come down with a disease, you're body will be much more equipped to fight it.

Improved Mental Health

When you eat nutrient-rich foods, exercise regularly, and are in relatively great shape, you're going to be more productive than ever.

Having a healthy body will help your mind function effectively as well, allowing you to focus on your work and other priorities.

Being in great shape will allow you to reach your full potential, both physically and mentally.

Having a healthy lifestyle will also help keep you free from depression and anxiety. There's nothing like getting through a tough workout first thing in the morning that makes you feel like you can conquer the world.

The choices you make regarding your health affect every other aspect of your life.

Embracing a healthy lifestyle will improve your mental health, and give you a more positive outlook in life.

Improved Sleep

Regular exercise accompanied by a healthy diet will regulate your body's energy systems and positively impact your sleep cycle.

While you sleep your body's biology repairs itself, so recovering hard is just as important as training hard.

The more energy you burn during your workout along with the need for your muscles to recover will have you wanting to crawl into bed a little earlier every night.

Getting to bed sooner will allow you to spend more time in REM sleep, the period of sleep where your body is resting its best.

The boost in sleep will do more than have you feeling refreshed in the mornings.

Increased sleep quality does much more for your overall health, from preventing stroke to eliminating depression.

You'll Be An Inspiration

This is a very underrated aspect of embracing a healthy lifestyle.

When you start feeling good about yourself and your body, it's almost impossible not to inspire other people around you to do the same.

Your friends and family will notice the changes in you and ask you how you've done it.

When you are full of life, happiness, and confidence, other people are likely to see you as a role model and will be inspired to take care of themselves.

You could be the thing that pushes someone over the line to completely change their life around. How great of a feeling would that be?

Each time you get a workout in and skip the drive through for a healthy meal, you are setting an example and encouraging others to do the same, even without saying a word.

Our actions also have a huge influence on those younger than us.

So your kids, nephews, nieces, and cousins who look up to you will all be positively influenced by your healthy lifestyle habits.

Your Relationships Will Improve

Romantic relationships will benefit from both partners engaging in activities that improve themselves.

Families will improve as a whole if they all embrace a healthy lifestyle and push each other to stay on course.

A lifestyle shaped by fitness is only amplified when you share it with others.

It's more than just reshaping your body to impress your significant other, although there's no harm in that.

The greatest benefit is knowing that both of you are doing your best to benefit yourselves and each other for the rest of your life.

Running together, lifting together, or doing a fitness class together will only inspire you more as an individual to keep up with your new lifestyle habits.

You will help each other commit to being the best versions of yourselves in order to strengthen your health, as well as the health of your partner or family member.

There are an infinite amount of reasons to why you should embrace a healthy lifestyle

This Is Just The Tip Of The Iceberg

These are just a few of the countless reason why you should embrace a healthy lifestyle.

In the short term, eating fast food and plopping down on the couch to watch Netflix all night might feel amazing.

But, in the long-run, you'll be kicking yourself.

In the future, instead of working out, you'll likely be spending more time visiting your doctor.

Instead of eating healthy, you'll be taking more prescription medications.

So do what's hard now, to avoid dealing with things that are really hard in the future.
